We hope everyone had a great Fishing Opener Mother’s Day weekend and got to enjoy the Northern Lights display! There was a lot to like about the last 4 days. Fishing Opener was a success for many. The Tarpon have shown up in the passes while catching bait early in the morning. These fish are just showing up. For the backwater enthusiast there […] The post Tarpon Are Here firs...

Thinking Spring has sprung. Just about perfect weather on the Truckee River. Pretty descent high Spring flows. Around 1 400 cfs here in Hirschdale and higher as you go down river. Not bad clarity. 1 400 ain’t too big. For the average weekend warrior angler maybe. Look for places trout can get out of current. That will […] The post Truckee River Fl...

Caddis and olives. Nymphing or swinging wets before the hatches have been productive. On the cloudy days start looking for the mayflies around noon …

My friends John and Julie have been showing up in Hatteras the same time as the Dolphins and Marlins for as long as I can remember. They tried their luck with us today and caught enough Dolphins for a few meals.  There was a great Blue Marlin bite but we were just spectators. Thanks y'all good seeing you again!

Had Glen Kaufman Lew Gold and friends out for stripers. Bait was tough once again but we found some nice healthy stripers for the guys with fish up to 38 inches along with one bluefish. Always a pleasure!

I fished today after we had a slight temperature drop over the weekend one that caused the water temps to fall too. We didn't tear them up today but we had a little better action than we had last week in the backwaters.  When I pulled away from the boat ramp this afternoon my thoughts were to fish the oyster beds. I met Frank Wytiaz and his broth...

The water willow is getting green and the shad are spawning in it at daylight creating fast action for the first couple of hours. Buzzbaits and spinnerbaits as well as a white swimjig are the best shad spawn baits. We have been getting about 15 bites in the early morning hours but then that slows down as the sun comes up. Then I have been moving...

Bream beds are a great way to get a lot of bites and the shad spawn can be the deal in the early morning hours. I did 3 guide trips this week and the nu...
